Manager: first day
As a manager you keep the operation moving: flocks are placed, daily figures are entered, and problems are caught early.
Open /onboarding when you are helping with first-day setup. After core
activation, Setup center can promote one mission that matches your current
permissions, such as reviewing Finance allocation readiness or inviting the
team. It disappears when the underlying real outcome is observed.
What to do
- Learn the flock list. Open
/lots/listto see every active Lot. PoultryDesk uses Lot as the common label for a flock or hatchery egg set. Place new ones at/lots/newagainst a house. - Check the daily figures. Make sure mortality, feed, and (for layers) eggs are being recorded. Missing daily records are the first thing to fix.
- Watch health and withdrawals. Record treatments under
/health. A flock under an active medicine withdrawal cannot be sold or harvested without an audited override. - Assign tasks and SOPs. Use
/tasksto hand out work and attach standard operating procedures so the team follows the same steps. - Read the money side. Record sales and expenses under
/finance, and read profitability by flock to see which flocks are performing. For Feed purchases, confirm whether the delivery entered stock or was a direct Lot cost. Correcting that choice requires a reason and posts the receipt and allocation change together. - Review Feed gaps. Use Manual capture for measured entries, Historical for missing-record preview/confirmation, and Automation for per-Lot daily-generation toggles. Changing the manual date reloads that Organization day's Lots, birds, phase, Feed item and stock status; entries can queue offline after this context loads. Historical generation covers scheduled Lots in the selected range, not only the manual Farm/Lots selection. Preview at most 31 days and confirm online only when birds, phase, stock, WAC and posting legs are ready.
- Record Broiler weights. Open Lots > Weight round, select active Broiler Lots and the date, and enter individual weights in grams. Review a multi-Lot round before confirming. Each sample saves or queues independently; retry only rejected outcomes. Layer weights remain under each Layer Lot's capture/Growth surface.
Watch out
Corrections are new entries, never silent edits - a re-allocation supersedes the prior one and the history is kept. If a screen looks missing, it is usually a role or plan limit; check with the owner.
